Is Konami Working on a Silent Hill Game Internally?

While the Silent Hill 2 Remake is slowly approaching its release, Konami has revealed some things in its quarterly report.

A trusted insider, Dusk Golem, has posted on Twitter that in addition to the projects announced so far, another Silent Hill game is in development, and this time it seems that it will not be made by an external studio (like Silent Hill 2 Remake, which is being made by Bloober Team, known for Layers of Fear or The Medium), but in-house…

“Konami released their Q1 results, which was the strongest Q1 performance in their company’s history, so they’re doing quite well. It also reaffirms that they are committed to the future of Silent Hill, and there will be more Silent Hill Transmissions in the future. Of course Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released in a few months on October 7th for PlayStation 5 and PC. Silent Hill Townfall & Silent Hill f are also announced for the future. There is also an internally developed Silent Hill game in the works and a few other unannounced things,” Dusk Golem wrote.

So Konami has been able to move beyond 2015. That’s when Silent Hills, Hideo Kojima’s project that he was working on alongside Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, ended up in the trash. (That game was also released incomplete…) Silent Hill: The Short Message was a short PlayStation 5 demo, while Silent Hill: Ascension and Silent Hill: Townfall are more like visual novels. The reception for Ascension and The Short Message was not great, and who knows how the Silent Hill 2 Remake will turn out, but it will be an almost impossible task to live up to the original.

Team Silent no longer exists, so it’s not what Konami is working on for the new game. But who is? It would be pointless to speculate, because answering that question is really an impossible task.
