While Valve pretends to be completely stupid about Deadlock (how can an unannounced game have a subreddit?), there’s another project linked to Gabe Newell’s company.
The resume of a voice actor has sparked another Valve rumor. The man has been heard in Starfield, Fallout 76, Valorant, Call of Duty: Vanguard, and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, but the most interesting on the list is the upcoming Project White Sands. The name has real-life precedents, but how does this all relate to Valve?
Valve is working on a title under the codename "White Sands"

Valve, of course, has Deadlock, which first ran under the codename Citadel, then was redesigned (Neon Prime). White Sands would fit in with Half-Life’s Black Mesa, and the name White Sands was used for a NASA test site and missile range in the US state of New Mexico. It was here that the atomic bomb was tested in 1945. Rumors of a new Half-Life were first heard in February, when two Valve projects were mentioned in an update to Counter-Strike 2. One was Citadel (now Deadlock) and the other was simply called “hlx”. For some reason this made us think of Half-Life: Alyx, that there might be a PlayStation VR2 version of it.
Of course, this was of no concern to Tyler McVicker of Valve News Network fame. In the video embedded below, he speculates that he thinks the code name hlx is Half-Life 3, but it could also be a flat screen form of Half-Life Alyx. Of course, we should add that McVicker was speculating, so he was really just guessing. So despite what he says, Valve won’t be saying anything about it.
By the way, let’s not forget that Valve is not going to make a single game with a number three at the end. Half-Life 3 will be like that. It’s just not going to be made, and you have to deal with that.
