Will the Nintendo Switch 2 Include a Quick Recharge Option?

There are more rumors about the next generation of hardware from the big N (which should be unveiled in the fall, if it’s scheduled for release around March again…).

On the Famiboards forum, some users have put together some shipping details. According to them, there will be a second cooler on Nintendo’s new hardware, but it probably won’t be on the Switch 2 (that’s not its official name!), but on its dock. According to fans, the dock could be the realistic solution, as the dock could add more power to the Big N’s new console. On the forum, users have also reported references to a 60W charger, which means the Switch 2 can be charged quickly.

Nintendo’s new console was originally rumored to hit stores in the second half of 2024, possibly sometime in September, but we’re now hearing March 2025 as a possible release date instead. That would put the successor exactly eight years after the original Switch, and if the Japanese company were to follow the example of the currently struggling platform, it would have to show around October that it can at least keep up with the Xbox Series S…

According to previous leaks, the hybrid platform would be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra T239 system board, which would feature Nvidia’s previous Ampere architecture with 1280 CUDA cores and 8 Cortex A78 Arm processor cores. These would be coupled with 12 GB of RAM. The game cartridges (or cards…) would use Samsung’s 5th generation V-NAND with a fairly high read speed of 1.4 GB/second. The console would support Nvidia’s DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction technology, and would also have hardware ray tracing thanks to Ampere. However, DLSS 3, the frame generation solution, would not be present in the device, and we’ve written about how it would struggle to compete even with the Xbox Series S, and would even be more powerful than the Steam Deck…

But none of this is official yet.
