Dead Island 2 Gets New Multiplayer Mode – And That’s Not the Only New Feature!

Dambuster Studios’ Dead Island 2 is getting New Game+ and a brand new mode starting October 22, all for free!

Do you miss the brutal zombie experience? Then you’ll be happy to know that Dambuster Studios has just shared an excellent reason to return to the critically acclaimed Dead Island 2. Although the title has indeed been around for more than a year, the creators have decided to expand the adventure in brand-new ways. And all of this will be distributed to all players for free!

According to the latest announcement on Dead Island’s official website, Dambuster Studios has been working on a “massive, free” Patch 6 that will integrate two major new features into the base game: New Game + and a mode called Neighborhood Watch. These features, designed to “take the experience to the next level,” will be available on October 22 for all platforms (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series).

So, what do each of the new features offer? Starting with the New Game+ mode, Dambuster Studios invites players who have already completed Dead Island 2 to come back and relive the campaign on a higher difficulty. All this is complemented by an extra skill slot and a new level limitation – the surprise is accompanied by more skins, brutal weapons and never-before-seen enemies.

Meanwhile, Neighborhood Watch mode is a co-op experience where you have to fight off hordes of zombies over five days.

According to a press release from Dambuster Studios, players will be able to use traps and a deadly arsenal to resist enemy onslaught and unlock new abilities as the group survives waves. If that wasn’t enough, the creators point out that Neighborhood Watch will also integrate weapons, cosmetics, a brand-new scenario, and new gameplay mechanics. So it’s a great excuse to get back to Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 2 is still in development

That Dead Island 2 is being updated with such large patches is not surprising. A few months ago, Dambuster Studios expressed their intention to add new content and features to the experience that players have come to expect, so the massive nature of this patch 6 is understandable. We wonder how they will expand the game even further…
