Is a Major Xbox Franchise About to Move to PlayStation 5?

Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy doesn’t want to stop with the ports announced in the spring and released since then, so the Redmond-based tech giant is looking to hand over more franchises to competitors.

According to a trusted insider, eXtas1s, Microsoft has already looked at which “bigger bites” will become multiplatform. He says that Forza Horizon 5 will get a PlayStation 5 port in the next few months (possibly later this year). He’s not sure of the timing yet, but he’s 100% confident that the game from Playground Games (which, as we’ve written, already has three studios) will be coming to Sony’s console. Maybe that’s why they needed three studios, because they’re working on a new Forza Horizon and a Fable reboot is also in development.

But what about Starfield? The game from Bethesda Game Studios and Todd Howard, released almost a year ago, is about to get its first expansion pack, Shattered Space, but it is still only available on the Xbox Series and PC. As for the PlayStation 5 port, eXtas1s reports that there are no active plans for it at the moment. So Microsoft wants to use it to drive gamers to the console, which has weak sales in the European region, or perhaps to the Xbox Game Pass subscription, which was recently increased in price. Or maybe Microsoft just wants us to play Starfield on the PC. But to get good quality, you need a fairly powerful configuration, and a console is much cheaper than that…

Well, at least Microsoft is showing a willingness to port, as for example Sea of Thieves was able to be ported to the PlayStation 5, and Rare’s game immediately hit the top of the PlayStation Store charts (something Ubisoft has since tried to do with Sea of Thieves, which was released after much delay). But when will we hear from Sony that, say, God of War: Ragnarok is coming to the Xbox Series? From them, only the annual baseball game MLB: The Show will migrate to its rival.

But it’s not official yet!
