Fallout’s Ella Purnell’s Upcoming Horror Comedy Could Break Her Career and She Knows It

MOVIE NEWS – Once actors hit the big time, they often face a choice: stick to safe, well-established projects or take bold risks on unique, lesser-known ventures. Fallout and Yellowjackets star Ella Purnell has chosen the latter with her new horror comedy, The Scurry, where she faces off against a swarm of killer squirrels. Speaking at FanExpo Chicago, Purnell admitted that this bizarre film could either be a career-defining success or a complete disaster.

Purnell, known for her candidness, confessed she’s uncertain about how the final product will turn out. However, she expressed strong faith in director Craig Roberts, known for his unique vision, even though the project’s premise sounds wildly unconventional. Purnell said, “I love Craig Roberts. I think he’s insanely talented. If you don’t know him, you should get to know his work. He’s a weird guy. And [The Scurry] reads kind of like Shaun of the Dead, but it’s not… Somehow, he did it. Look, I have no idea how this film’s going to turn out. It’s either going to be the coolest thing ever or it’s going to ruin my career. But I think it’s going to be good. I trust him a lot.”

What Is Craig Roberts’ The Scurry All About?

In The Scurry, Purnell portrays a park attendant forced to survive an attack by a bloodthirsty horde of squirrels. The movie promises all the B-movie fun its premise suggests, driven by the creative vision of a respected British actor and director. Alongside Purnell, the film features an entirely British cast, including Rhys Ifans, Antonia Thomas, Daniel Mays, Beau Gadson, and Paapa Essiedu. The official synopsis states, “Chaos erupts at an eco-café when a horde of deranged squirrels seeks revenge on the staff and visitors, forcing two summoned pest controllers to face the onslaught.”

Ella Purnell’s schedule remains packed, with the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s Emmy-nominated Fallout series in development. Additionally, she will star in Sweetpea, a new comedy thriller from Starz, where she plays a young woman struggling to keep her new love for murder a secret from those around her.
