Is a Long-Forgotten Part of The Sims Coming to Nintendo Switch?

Something that only an older audience might remember is about to appear on Nintendo’s seven-and-a-half-year-old console, and it’s not exactly a recent episode.

The Nintendo Switch version of MySims has surfaced on the website of Swiss game retailer World of Games and German distributor Vitrex. The information was posted on the ResetEra forum. Both sites have also given a possible release date, which they say could be Tuesday, November 19. Victrex has also posted a product image, but it’s likely to be a temporary placeholder due to its low resolution and use of the original artwork. These two distributors are not affiliated with Nintendo or Electronic Arts, so there will most likely be a store (cartridge/card) version of the game.

MySims, developed by EA Redwood Shores, was released in 2007, and the studio is better known by its later name, as a year later they released Dead Space under the name Visceral Games. MySims was a spin-off for younger kids with cartoon-like Mii characters and focused on building and decorating cities while helping your neighbors with their tasks. The socialization is simplified, the characters don’t age, and they don’t have physical needs. It’s basically an Animal Crossing clone.

This game was released for Nintendo Wii and DS in September 2007. Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) made its way to mobile phones in 2008, and the Wii version was ported to PC. Until now, there has been little talk of such an old episode being ported to Nintendo Switch. By 2010, five more games had come under the MySims brand – MySims Kingdom, Party, Racing, Agents, and SkyHeroes. Then it all died down, and this spin-off has been quiet for a decade and a half, perhaps not coincidentally.

If a Nintendo Switch port (remake?) of MySims is indeed in the works, it could be announced during the rumored Nintendo Direct in September. Until then, it’s not official.
