How Long Can Sony Keep the PlayStation 5 Pro Under Wraps? [VIDEO]

A reliable leaker recently spoke about the half-generation console update, so it’s getting to be a strange sight that Sony isn’t making a peep about the PlayStation 5 Pro…

Jeff Grubb spoke about Sony’s yet-to-be-announced platform during the Game Mess Mornings podcast. He heard that Sony is still planning to release the PlayStation 5 Pro in 2024. He added that there will be a State of Play show no later than the end of September. We think Sony is planning a bigger event than that, so we should think more of a PlayStation Showcase, as the company has to announce its games for next year, as we haven’t heard anything about that yet.

Grubb doesn’t know if the PlayStation 5 Pro will be there during the State of Play event, but if Sony manages to get the coverage in the first half of September, it’s likely that it will be there, as Sony could show the console there, then take the half-generation model to the Tokyo Game Show to be exhibited there, and demonstrate the console’s capabilities with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, as the Kojima Productions game will be Sony’s jewel at the event.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is now an open secret. It’s like the Nintendo Switch 2 (not sure if that’s what it’ll be called), but in any case, we’ll be curious to see what price tag Sony will put on the device. Also, if it does price the console, will it lower the price of the base PlayStation 5? Because so far, not only has there been no price cut, but the console has gone up by 50 euros, and we have not really seen any examples of this. Just make sure Sony doesn’t charge too much for the PlayStation 5 Pro, because if you can buy it for, say, €700, that’s going to put a lot of people off.

But all this is not official yet, even though almost everything about the console has been leaked…
