Splinter Cell Remake Remains in ‘Stealth Mode’! [VIDEO]

The developer of the game, Ubisoft Toronto, still doesn’t want to tell us much about the game (so don’t expect any more details).

Ubisoft Toronto is burning several trees at once. It helped develop Star Wars: Outlaws (due out Friday, August 30th), but in the meantime, it’s working on the Price of Persia: Sands of Time Remake, as well as the Splinter Cell Remake. PSU visited the French publisher’s studio in Canada to get a behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars: Outlaws, but also to hear about Sam Fisher’s adventures.

The last main episode of Splinter Cell was released in 2013, so it’s been over a decade since then, and Ubisoft Toronto has been very secretive about the development of the remake of the first episode, even though it was announced in 2021. In 2022, then-director David Grivel left Ubisoft after 11 years, and we don’t know who’s leading the project or what stage of development it’s at. Studio president Darryl Long said the game would remain in “stealth mode”.

Ubisoft had an E3 replacement event in June, Ubisoft Forward, where we could have expected some new information about the Splinter Cell Remake, but unfortunately, we were left in the dark as the French company didn’t reveal anything about it. In a similar situation is Beyond Good & Evil 2, which Ubisoft hints here and there that it does exist and is in the works, but we see about as much chance of it happening as we do of winning the lottery. There are a lot of unanswered questions about these two games.

Ubisoft Toronto’s job postings in December hinted at the return of Sam Fisher. They had 12 job openings, so you can assume that development will continue. But we’d like to hear more. After all, it’s been three years since it was announced, so we should show it. But Ubisoft will do nothing of the sort, even if we ask. Too bad.
