Sonic the Hedgehog 3: The Trailer Has Arrived with Some Long-Awaited Characters! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Sonic and Shadow clash, and Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik returns in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 trailer…

Paramount has released the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which introduces one of the blue speedster’s most iconic adversaries, the evil Shadow the Hedgehog – voiced by Keanu Reeves. The “Sonic” triple sequel will premiere in theatres on December 20.

The third film – which was given the green light before the release of the second part in 2022 – will explore new areas of the video game universe created by Sega. Although plot details have been kept under wraps, the Sonic 2 post-credits scene hinted at Shadow’s inclusion.

In addition to Ben Schwartz as Sonic, the cast of the previous two films – including Jim Carrey as the evil Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone – will appear again. Also returning are Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who voices Miles “Tails” Prower, and Idris Elba, who voices Knuckles.

Elba recently starred in Paramount+’s live-action spinoff series, the fantasy Knuckles. The series follows the titular character as he adjusts to life on Earth after his introduction in Sonic 2. The series also starred Adam Pally as Sheriff Wade Whipple from the first two Sonic films. Also appearing were Schwartz and O’Shaughnessey as Sonic and Tails. The events of the series, therefore, take place between the second and third movies, so it might be worth watching before Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The first Sonic movie hit theatres in February 2020. The sequel was released in April 2022. Together, the two films grossed more than $724 million at the global box office. Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two films, returned for the third instalment.
