How Could I Live Without You? Already Breaking Viewership Records [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Even though the premiere is far off on December 12, interest continues to grow for what promises to be the most anticipated Hungarian film of the year, *How Could I Live Without You?* The first trailer of this musical romantic comedy, set to the songs of Ferenc Demjén, reached 1 million views in just one month, which is remarkable because no domestic or foreign film has achieved this feat this year. In fact, no Hungarian film has achieved this result in the past decade.

The Hungarian audience generally loves trailers, and their viewership often gives a hint as to how the film might be received in theaters. This is supported by the huge interest generated this year by the trailers of *Inside Out 2* and *Despicable Me 4*, both of which were also highly successful in Hungary. The former was played 278,000 times, while the latter 320,000 times on YouTube. Blockbusters like *Dune: Part Two* and the dubbed trailer for *Deadpool & Wolverine* also attracted huge numbers, both reaching 200,000 views. Other popular trailers in the 2024 rankings include *Robot Dreams* (363,000), *Gladiator 2* (237,000), *Venom: Let There Be Carnage* (278,000), and in 20th place, *The Trap* (194,000).

Hungarian films also have nothing to be ashamed of in this area. This year, alongside *How Could I Live Without You?*, two other Hungarian productions have also shown impressive results with their trailers. The trailer for *Now or Never!* has been viewed 211,000 times, while the first teaser for *Going for a Run*, the new comedy by Gábor Herendi, the director of *Kincsem*, coming in November, has already garnered nearly 850,000 views. In a broader comparison, the 1 million views of the first trailer for *How Could I Live Without You?* stands out among Hungarian films of the last decade. Before this year, the Hungarian trailer leaderboard was topped by *BUÉK* (761,000), *The Whiskey Bandit* (710,000), *Papp Pia* (667,000), and *Son of Saul* (642,000), all of which attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers to the cinemas. Additionally, the anticipation for *How Could I Live Without You?* is further underscored by the fact that the trailer has already received 10,000 likes from future viewers by pressing the like button.

The sunny musical comedy, set both in the present day and 30 years ago, *How Could I Live Without You?*, is built around Ferenc Demjén’s most famous songs (*The Moon Is Made of Cheese*, *You Broke My Heart to Pieces*, *Love Train*, *Ice Heart*, *Come Back, Wanderer*, etc.), sung by the film’s young cast. Among them are Franciska Törőcsik, Peti Marics, Márk Ember, Bence Brasch, Marcell Kirády, and Sára Varga-Járó. Other cast members include Luca Márkus, Harmat Kovács, Zoltán Seress, Anna Györgyi, Balázs Medveczky, Anna Markó-Valentyik, Balázs Szántó, and Veronika Barta.

The film, produced with the support of the National Film Institute, co-financed by MBH Bank and IKO Műsorgyártó Magyarország Kft., and in collaboration with TV2 as a media partner, will be released by InterCom in Hungarian cinemas on December 12, 2024.
