According to rumors, Chinese game developer Game Science’s game will get not one, but two DLCs, but first the studio wants to make up for it.
Lunatic Ignus wrote on Discord that Game Science is planning to release two DLCs for Black Myth: Wukong. There’s not much information about the content yet, but the leaker’s source has already found sound files for Buddha, Nezha, and the Jade Emperor. Nezha will probably play a bigger role in the sequel. The two DLCs are logical, by the way, as Game Science had previously stated that it wanted thirteen chapters for the game, but there weren’t that many in the record-breaking action-RPG that was released on August 20th for PlayStation 5 and PC. (Currently, and this should probably not be considered a spoiler, there are only six chapters, so plans have been halved…)
The leaker has no information on the release date for the DLCs, but did reveal that Game Science’s priority right now is to release the Xbox Series version and release disk copies. The announcement could come next summer, on the anniversary of the game’s first release, August 20, 2025. Lunatic Ignus has been pretty reliable lately, so there might be some truth in what he said. He also revealed the codename for the game’s sequel, Black Myth: Jiang Ziya.
Whatever happens, there is much to be said for Black Myth: Wukong, namely that the game managed to grab the public’s attention, otherwise it wouldn’t have been able to produce very strong sales figures in the days after its release, and although sales slowed down after the launch (as they always do), don’t be surprised if Game Science will soon release another sales figure, and say that the Chinese studio is not at 10 million sales, but at 15 million.
We already reported a rumor that the Xbox Series version of the series was delayed indefinitely due to memory overload, and now the studio is working on that port.
