Two Weeks Later, Black Myth: Wukong is Still Selling Like Hot Cakes!

In two weeks, another milestone has been reached for Chinese Game Science’s game, about which we wrote recently that it has not yet been released on Microsoft’s console duo, allegedly due to technical limitations of the Xbox Series.

Hero Games is Game Science’s largest outside shareholder. You may know this company from our report about the rules that came with free Steam codes (they had some very strange requests). Daniel Wu from this company was interviewed by Bloomberg, and in the meantime he confirmed that Black Myth: Wukong has already sold over 18 million copies two weeks after its release. Wu also confirmed in the interview that an add-on for the action-RPG is in the works. Of course, don’t expect any further details as development has probably only just begun.

We reported a rumor that two add-ons for Black Mythos: Wukong were in the works, and that they would be announced a year after the game’s release. This may be true in the sense that the announcement of the SECOND add-on could be timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the game’s release (i.e. August 20th, 2025 or thereabouts). However, the fact that there is already talk of a DLC is a bit surprising, as so far the focus seems to have been on the Xbox Series version. Of course, this one doesn’t have a release date yet (but it’s not the only one: yesterday’s news also mentioned Enotria: The Last Song, which also ran into problems with the developers, but there are more bureaucratic than technical hurdles).

Black Myth: Wukong was released on August 20th for PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Store) and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store; it also made it to the Chinese WeGame platform). It sold 10 million copies in three days, so understandably sales slowed down here as well, with another 8 million in 11 days. The next time we’ll probably hear sales figures will be when it reaches 25 million.
