MOVIE NEWS – Star Wars Outlaws star Humberly González is eager to bring her new character, Kay Vess, to life in a live-action format. Star Wars: Outlaws, the latest video game in the legendary franchise, follows scoundrel Kay Vess (played by González) on a thrilling journey set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, navigating through various criminal factions within the Star Wars galaxy.
The game depicts Vess’ daring mission to gather a team for the ultimate heist. González joins a growing list of actors who have voiced, performed motion capture, and provided their likeness to characters in Star Wars video games, with fans hoping to see them transition to live-action roles. Notable examples include Cameron Monaghan as Cal Kestis in Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, and Janina Gavankar as Iden Versio in Star Wars: Battlefront II.
González, known for her recent role in the 2024 horror film Tarot, has expressed a strong desire to reprise her role as Kay Vess in live-action. In an interview with Variety, she was asked about the possibility of appearing in another Star Wars project, such as a film or Disney+ series, and she showed great enthusiasm for the idea. González highlighted that the game’s placement in the original trilogy era offers a fresh perspective on those classic films, saying:
“I think it would be incredible to see Kay Vess in live action because one thing that we don’t see in animation is those micro-expressions of a real human being on screen, and it would be incredible for me to experience what it would be like to be literally in her costume, in her appearance, her likeness, in the landscape, to see her interact with real characters, the creatures. It would be a dream come true. I certainly would not say no to the opportunity. And I think there’s so many opportunities to see Kay Vess and other aspects of established roles in Star Wars because we’re in the original trilogy, and there’s so many opportunities for her to exist or show up in different places. So it would be amazing, and I think fans would love it.”

A New Star Wars Star Rises
With Star Wars: Outlaws set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, it’s plausible that Kay Vess was alive during the New Republic era featured in The Mandalorian and various other shows. Lucasfilm could easily have González reprise her role as Kay Vess in a future project like Ahsoka Season 2 or in the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu. With an upcoming movie directed by Dave Filoni that will crossover various Disney+ live-action series, they might even consider including characters from video games like Kay Vess and Iden Versio.
While it’s unlikely that Lucasfilm will give Kay Vess her own series or movie, they might continue her story in the video games while also integrating her into the broader Star Wars universe through TV appearances and supporting roles. González is a rising star, soon to be seen in Star Trek: Section 31 on Paramount+ and returning as Sophie Sanchez in Ginny & Georgia Season 3. Positioning her as a fresh face in the Star Wars universe could help attract a new generation of fans who are discovering Star Wars through video games and want to see the franchise evolve with new characters.
