If you’re looking for a long and meaningful action RPG, Bandai Namco Studios’ Tales of Arise is just for you. Don’t be put off by the fact that this is the 17th game in the “Tales of…” series! I would like to assure you that you can even treat this as a ticket. You don’t need any prior knowledge to enjoy what it has to offer.

Let’s start with the Metacritic score. Tales of Arise boasts 87 points, so don’t just take my word for it. The majority of critics – including us, here – spoke highly of the game.

Gfinity praised the “incredible journey” it offers and gave the game a perfect 10, while GamingTrend highlighted the “fun and fluid” combat and “charming” characters.

“For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedom,” reads the synopsis.

“Our tale begins with two people, born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate and create a new future. Featuring a diverse cast of characters, intuitive and rewarding combat system, and a captivating story set in a lush world worth fighting for, Tales of Arise delivers a first-class JRPG experience.”

Tales of Arise has everything you would expect from an RPG.

A stunning world with an evolving environment, memorable characters, exciting combat with new boost attacks… what’s not to love about it? Oh, and did I mention there’s also a graphics shader so you can play the game in a stunning anime/watercolour style?!

The game is currently available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium levels – go and try it if you’re interested!
