The developers have also confirmed that online lobbies will appear in the base camp of the new Monster Hunter.
In an interview with the Italian publication Multiplayer, Ryozo Tsujimoto (the game’s producer), Kaname Fujioka (a designer), and Yuya Tokuda (the director) were interviewed. They talked about tweaks, and although they could not be specific, they were able to tell us that they are trying to fine-tune the overall experience. Compared to the build shown at Gamescom, the version shown at the Tokyo Game Show was able to perform much better, so seeing this, the Japanese team is really serious about making sure the new Monster Hunter runs properly.
Cross-play can be turned off at any time, so if you’re playing on PlayStation 5, for example, you won’t have to hunt monsters with players from the PC or Xbox Series (and you can even turn it off when searching for available missions). Cross-save, the ability to move between platforms, will be a tricky feature to implement, but Capcom says it will help to have a simultaneous release on console and PC, so players can choose their favorite platform and play with others.
Monster Hunter Wilds will have more social elements from the older episodes. When you join an online lobby, all players will appear in the base camp, so despite the open-world environment, this aspect of the game will not be negatively affected. A mission can also be played with different weather conditions, as players can choose this (there will be a weather forecast system) and their hunter can rest until the chosen condition arrives. There will also be a significant change to the balance, allowing users to create different character builds. Offensive (attacking) skills have been added to weapons, giving players much more freedom with armor, and the decoration system has also been modified to allow for much more customization.
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. This adds Capcom’s game to the packed February line-up.
