Horizon Zero Dawn: Farewell to the Complete Edition

The Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition has said goodbye to digital stores on PC: Sony wants to force everyone to invest in the remaster if they haven’t already experienced Aloy’s adventure…

On Friday, the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition said goodbye to Steam and the Epic Games Store, and will be replaced by a remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn that will require users to have a PlayStation Network account. This was a major issue with Helldivers 2 and has since been added to all PC ports. On PlayStation Network, we’ve seen a slightly more annoying situation.

When the remaster was announced, the full version of the original release was still available on Sony’s network, but the company quietly jacked up the price. They wanted $50 instead of $30, which is a 66% increase. This is the first price increase for the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition in over six years of availability, and since it is no longer available for purchase, it could become unavailable in many countries! This could cause issues in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Far East.

God of War: Ragnarok and Until Dawn Remake (which is more of a remaster… more on that later today) have also made PlayStation Network accounts mandatory, and since the network is not officially available everywhere, there are likely to be some critical voices here as well.

The PC version on Windows includes the PlayStation overlay with Trophy support and has its own set of features, such as support for ultra-wide resolutions and the latest performance-enhancing technologies such as Nvidia DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1 with frame generation. Many of the accessibility features first introduced in Horizon Forbidden West have been included in this remastered version; remappable controls, haptic cues, and various assistance toggles will allow all players to fully enjoy the game. Your old save games will work, so this is a great opportunity to dive into New Game+ or return to Photo Mode with all your previously unlocked outfits and customizations.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will be available for PlayStation 5 and PC on October 31st.
