In the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the difficulty level can vary depending on a certain feature.
Yuji Korekado, creative producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta, was interviewed by the Japanese publication Famitsu. This was then translated by VGC. It says that depending on the perspective, you will get different difficulty levels! There will be a new third-person view, similar to the one we saw in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but for those who like the classic fixed-perspective view, it will remain optional.
“We had originally planned to make it possible to switch between the two perspectives at any time during the game, but we decided against it. The difficulty level changes drastically depending on the viewpoint. The New Style has a wider, more linear field of view, and you can shoot while moving, so the difficulty was lower than we expected. However, if we adjusted it to match the New Style, the Legacy Style would become too difficult, so we decided to split the game into two styles. The ‘Legacy Style’ is close to the difficulty of the original version, and we are adjusting the ‘New Style’ from the ground up,” Korekado said.
But that’s not the only thing Metal Gear Solid Delta will innovate on, as the technology won’t be the same either. Though Konami could have used the FOX engine, the Japanese publisher (as well as CD Projekt RED) finally gave in, as they are also using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, and it is really starting to show up in more and more places instead of a proprietary engine.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (that’s the full name of the game) will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC sometime later this year. However, time passes slowly, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Big Boss is eventually pushed back to February 2025… There’ll be almost a dozen big games out by then anyway.
