Will Apple’s 5G Modem Be All-in-One?

TECH NEWS – Now we’re hearing that the Cupertino company wants to put three things on one chip, and something has emerged about the new budget iPhone model.

The iPhone SE 4 will be a major milestone for Apple. This device will feature an OLED display, leaving LCD behind. It will be the first phone to feature the company’s unique 5G modem, and now there are rumors that the latest A18 chip will also be in the phone (it debuted in the iPhone 16 series, and we recently wrote that only one of the four models had better pre-order results than last year’s devices). According to 9to5mac, the 5G modem (which Apple will no longer import from an external manufacturer) will also have WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS capabilities…

We’ve already heard that Apple will start using its own modem in 2025, which will be a bit less powerful than the Qualcomm chips it uses now, and it remains to be seen how the company will compensate for the loss. In any case, the fact that a single chip will be able to make multiple connections is a positive. It means there is no need to design with more chips, which can free up space in the device to accommodate other components, possibly a slightly larger capacity battery.

The iPhone 4 SE will not repeat what the iPhone 16 is currently doing: it will not have AI (Apple Intelligence) added after its release, but will be part of the device from the start. Since Apple has specified the hardware it needs, that’s probably why it won’t be the A17 Pro chip, but the latest one. That’s why there’s a chance that it will have 8GB of RAM like the iPhone 16, a larger display and a 48MP main camera like the iPhone 15 (a big jump).

The iPhone SE 4 could be announced in the first half of 2025, perhaps during Apple’s spring event.
