When shutting down the servers for the Concord hero-shooter game, Firewalk expressed its intention to “explore options” and determine “the best path”…
Despite the rather shocking and high-profile server shutdown announced just 11 days after release, Concord seems to live on. Although Firewalk Studios hasn’t released any statements regarding the hero-shooter, it’s been revealed that the team is still working on it. We know this from the fact that the game received internal updates on Steam.
This came to light thanks to Insider Gaming, who spotted some changes to Concord on SteamDB. While these logs don’t provide details on what’s been introduced/removed in terms of multiplayer, Firewalk Studios has rolled out 20 patches since October 6th. These updates are said to have been uploaded to Steam by users such as ‘pmtest’, ‘sonyqae_shipping’ and ‘sonyqae’.
All of this indicates that Firewalk Studios is still working on the PlayStation-exclusive game.
In fact, it’s worth noting here that Concord’s server shutdown wasn’t meant to be a final farewell in the first place. According to a statement released in early September, the developers intended to “explore options” and determine “the best way forward.” Therefore, it is not out of the question, and even increasingly likely, that the game will return sometime in the coming months. Well, as Al Pacino said in The Godfather 3:
The director of Concord has reportedly resigned
Things obviously didn’t go well with Concord. Indeed, sources have reported that Ryan Ellis, the director of the title, has reportedly resigned after the game’s unsuccessful launch. Firewalk Studios employees were waiting for Sony’s decision regarding their future. Although there has been no official news about the project, all signs point to the revival of the PlayStation-exclusive game. We’ll see how his second attempt turns out if he finally returns to the market for good.
