Stream Your Own Games with Xbox Cloud Gaming Soon!

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will soon be able to play more games from the cloud, and while the Redmond-based tech giant is only testing the feature, it’s likely to be revolutionary for them and for us.

Starting in November, Microsoft will let you stream your own games. The company’s gaming division is not performing like the rest of Microsoft, and this is an attempt to improve the situation. If you want to stream a game that’s not part of the Xbox Game Pass offering, you’ll soon be able to. This is called Project Lapland inside the company. They’ve been working on Xbox Cloud Gaming servers that can stream thousands of different games, are stable, and have a wide range of graphical detail and compatibility.

We heard about something like this in February-March, so Microsoft has been working on the idea ever since. Another herald of change is the fact that some games have recently started using both mouse and keyboard. And this expansion comes in the same month that Google will be forced to change several things around the Play Store in the US (we reported on this earlier), including stopping the mandatory use of Google’s own billing system (a court ruling has forced the Alphabet subsidiary to do so). This will allow third-party stores to operate on the Play Store.

According to Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, gamers will also be able to buy and play games on Android through the Xbox app. Microsoft is still trying to iron out the details, but once everything is worked out, you will be able to stream the games you buy right to your device. This update has been in the works for a long time. Back in 2022, the Redmond-based company announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming would be rolled out to its own library of games, but there were a lot of hurdles around the company, and the pandemic slowed things down.

According to Tom Warren, editor of The Verge, some publishers are holding back some games from this option due to licensing and other agreements, but for PC titles from older, defunct publishers and developers, this could be a good idea.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
