Astro Bot: Are You Ready for The Weekly Speedrun Levels? [VIDEO]

Team Asobi and Sony Interactive Entertainment are beginning to update the content of their platformer, which was released on PlayStation 5 in September and has been performing well ever since.

As announced on the PlayStation Blog, two new Special Bots per level will be added to levels that require you to complete them as quickly as possible. The first of these speedrun courses, Building Speed, arrived on October 17th. The second, Let It Slide, will follow on October 24th, followed by Spring-loaded Run on October 31st, Helium Heights on November 7th, and Rising Heat on November 14th. In all cases, the new Astro Bot levels will be available at 6 a.m. Pacific Time.

“These levels will test your platforming skills and, along with an online leaderboard, give you the chance to compete against all your PlayStation friends. In Building Speed, blast your way through a skyscraper city with the help of Barkster the bulldog booster. Dodge cranes, smash through crates and even speed through a flying car wash on your way to rescue your stranded crew,” said Team Asobi studio director Nicolas Doucet on the PlayStation Blog.

Check out a sneak preview of Building Speed in the video embedded below. The game is currently only available on PlayStation 5, so you can only compete on Sony’s current generation console. As one of Sony’s in-house studios, Astro Bot will also support the PlayStation 5 Pro, a half-generation update to the PS5 that is due out in November.

There will definitely be a PC port of Astro Bot, but who knows how long we’ll have to wait. In any case, Sony must be considering a port, as not many games can be said to be only available on the PlayStation 5, such as Destruction AllStars and Demon’s Souls Remake, and the latter will probably never make it to other platforms, just like Bloodborne did not on the PlayStation 4…

But back to the Astro Bot: it’s time to move up a gear!
