The new game from the creators of Alan Wake, FBC: Firebreak, came out with a trailer, and we also received some information about the release date…
During the recent Xbox Partner Review, Remedy Entertainment finally revealed the project, known until now under the code name Condor. We finally know that it will be called FBC: Firebreak – you may already know this, as it was registered earlier this year – and it will be the first multiplayer title from the creators of Alan Wake and Control. We have the trailer and release window: it will arrive next year.
We were able to learn some details from the first footage of the game: it turned out to be a strictly cooperative first-person shooter, and its protagonists are up to three agents of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), whom you might still remember from the game Control as the fictitious New York to agency that studies anomalies.
What place does Firebreak occupy in the Control universe?
According to Remedy, FBC: Firebreak is not DLC for Control, nor is it a sequel to Control, as game director Mike Kayatta clarified in a post on Xbox Wire. “I guess you could say that it’s a spin-off, but in the most positive sense of the word,” he said. Also, it is a new game that expands the “Remedy Connected Universe”. The company noted that “this is the first multiplayer project” from the studio, and that the game is planned to be continuously expanded with content.
Firebreak centres on a special unit designed to respond to a critical incident such as this one.
The FBC centre is under attack from forces beyond the comprehension of ordinary mortals like us. And the answer to the problem is post-war weapons and garden gnomes.
With the trailer, Remedy Entertainment unveiled the gameplay, far from the usual, with vertical action, character abilities and some humor. If you liked FBC: Firebreak, you’ll be happy to know that you can now add it to your Steam wishlist. Remedy notes that “we have more single-player games in development, and they will be awesome.” And, of course, we believe them since they are Remedy.
The title is expected to be available for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 sometime in 2025 at an as yet unspecified date. Moreover, the creators also revealed that it will appear on Game Pass and PS Plus Extra and Premium services. In the future, Remedy will remake the legendary Max Payne 1 and 2 and will also release Control 2. Another multiplayer title was in development called “Kestrel”, but it was announced to be cancelled in May.
