Silent Hill 2 Remake: James Stays in the Game!

The Bloober team has quickly responded to the bug that was left in the remake released two weeks ago with the 1.04 patch.

Recently we wrote about the interesting glitch left in the game towards the end of Brookhaven Hospital. Among other things, this will be fixed in the new update for PlayStation 5 and PC (the Xbox Series will have it a year later at the earliest). PC users will also benefit from the new update if they don’t have an Nvidia graphics card.

Reduced visual glitches when using the latest version of Nvidia DLSS. Added a menu option to enable DLSS frame generation when using DLSS for supersampling. NVIDIA Reflex is now active when DLSS frame generation is enabled. Added support for AMD FSR 3.1.1. Added a menu option to enable AMD Fluid Motion Frames when using FSR 3.1 for supersampling. Updated Intel Nanites to support upcoming driver updates. Performance improvements and optimizations for Steam Deck. Fixed stuttering related to sky map generation. Added option to enable/disable HZB culling to fix stuttering on some AMD/Intel GPUs. All graphics settings should be saved locally.

Fixed a problem where the translation for the “High” UI preset was not translated and displayed correctly. Fixed problem with wooden plank appearing during James’ death animation. Fixed a streaming issue where staring at the walls in the Grand Market caused problems loading the entire environment around James. Fixed a problem where interacting with the wrong side of the peephole in Brookhaven Hospital would teleport James to the other side. Fixed a problem where breaking windows near Neely’s Bar would cause James to get stuck in the window frame. Fixed a problem where James could access the inaccessible balcony in the Blue Creek Apartments. Fixed a problem with Abstract Daddy’s behavior during a boss fight where the enemy was not hitting James properly. Fixed several issues with Abstract Daddy’s 3rd TV – it should now have the correct audio and the wall won’t interfere with its position. Fixed a problem where a question mark in the conference room would not disappear after obtaining the Cinderella figurine in the Lakeview Hotel.

Fixed a collision detection issue with the dayroom walls in Brookhaven Hospital. Fixed a problem where James would fall under the map when approaching Laura entering Brookhaven Hospital from the bushes on the left. Removed debug numbers displayed behind wallpaper in the Blue Creek Apartments Clock Room. Fixed a problem where James could not leave the 3F corridor in the Lakeview Hotel. Fixed a problem where the light bulb on the 3rd floor of Blue Creek Apartments would stay on and not be destroyed. Fixed a problem where the small coffee table in the corner of the room in the Woodside Apartments would block James. Fixed a problem where, after completing the Disgust Path in Labyrinth, the player was forced to do it again. Fixed a problem where Spider Mannequins would get stuck when attacking James while he was going through the squeeze traversal.

Fixed a problem where James would get stuck in the window frame when attacking lying figures outside the window. Added more natural movement for James when switching weapons while aiming. Fixed a problem where the Spider Mannequin event would trigger multiple times on the Fear Path in the Labyrinth. Improved the ability to pick up items during the final boss fight. Fixed a problem with overlapping picture frames in the Moth Room. Improved deformation of nurses’ skirts. Fixed a problem where the NewGame+ unlock information wasn’t displayed in the player’s chosen language. Fixed visible unloading of the door of an abandoned garage on the west side of South Vale. Fixed question mark on map during chute puzzle in Woodside Apartments.

Not a bad update.
