Microsoft wants to test the public with the title from MachineGames, because even though it’s a studio from Bethesda, a division of Microsoft, Indy will later make its way to the PlayStation 5.
On Twitter, eXstas1s, who has proven to be a reliable insider, commented on Microsoft’s plans for the PlayStation 5 ports. The Redmond-based company hasn’t given up on them, they’re just slowing them down as they believe there was a poor reception to the fact that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be coming to Sony’s console relatively soon (just a few months after the original Xbox Series/PC release).

Previously, there were rumors that Halo and Gears of War were also being considered for a PlayStation release. In response, eXtas1s said that these two franchises would remain red lines for ports, meaning that Microsoft has no plans to make them available on other platforms (except PC, but that requires Microsoft’s Windows operating system, so it’s in the family).
So far, we have seen that Microsoft has only taken games developed by its own studios to competitors, sometimes years after release. This was the case with Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle won’t be coming to PlayStation 5 until a few months later, in the spring. After that, we’ll be curious to see what Microsoft does with DOOM: The Dark Ages, where it’s been announced that Doom Slayer won’t be missing on PlayStation 5. Maybe they didn’t dare to bet on exclusivity here because of the brand awareness, as both DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal were multiplatform.
So let’s see how PlayStation 5 gamers receive Indy’s new adventure. If it sells well on Sony’s console, they’ll speed up the ports a bit. If not, you’ll be left with a significant time lag.
