This means that the Japanese company’s yet-to-be-announced platform (although rumors suggest that it won’t be long before that happens…) could be getting its hands on a very strong third-party title!
Granted, this port wouldn’t be made by the original developers, but if the port doesn’t end up disappointing, it won’t be a problem if it’s not made in-house. But what is it about? Well, perhaps the best game of 2022, Elden Ring, which is rumored to be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 (unofficial name, of course).
The rumor was published on Twitter by Nash Weedle, a reliable leaker. According to him, the port could be a kind of expanded edition and therefore called Elden Ring: Definitive Edition. In addition to the base game, the add-on Shadow of the Erdtree would also be available. The port could be made by the team behind Dark Souls: Remastered. So Virtuos could be the team that brings the full version of the game, which takes Souls gameplay to a new level, to the next-generation hardware of the big N.

Virtuos and the Nintendo Switch are essentially inseparable, with the Singapore-based studio having brought BioShock: The Collection, Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered and Dark Souls to the Switch, which launched seven and a half years ago. But if a new Elden Ring port is indeed on the way, when can we expect it? All we know for sure is that it won’t be an opening title, as Nash Weedle says it could arrive towards the end of 2025. And Switch 2 is now rumored to be coming either in early 2025 (March?) or in the second quarter (April in the new fiscal year at the earliest).
Granted, the Switch’s successor hasn’t even gone into mass production yet, so it could be even later than the platform Nintendo previously stated (back in February) that it didn’t want to run out of stock at launch… but until then, only one thing is certain: the Elden Ring port isn’t official yet.
