TECH NEWS – Dragon Age: The Veilguard is downgraded to 500P on PS5 to maintain 60 FPS…
Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been receiving a lot of criticism lately for various reasons. Despite this, the review scores have been quite positive. However, some critics have pointed out that BioWare did not release a test copy for those who were a little more objective about the game.
However, this game does not have the much-hated DRM technology, nor microtransactions, which is quite rare, especially in 2024. Not to mention that it has been referred to as the best PC port for years. However, there are problems with the performance mode on PS5.
To maintain 60FPS, the resolution drops to 500P, which makes the game look a bit pixelated.
Why is this important? Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being called one of the best PC ports of all time. So, PS5 fans may not be too happy with the native resolution in performance mode.
Digital Foundry’s in-depth analysis revealed how the game runs on PC and PlayStation 5. Of course, we found the best version on PC, as the optimization was also quite good this time.
However, the PlayStation 5 version doesn’t look bad either. Of course, the game can look pixelated in some cases. However, this is mainly the case in performance mode. Although there have been similar cases before, this may be the lowest native resolution for the console to maintain 60FPS.
The PC version offers an ultra-detail that the PS5 can’t compete with, even in fidelity mode. Overall, the technical expert highly praised the PC port, but that doesn’t mean that the PlayStation 5 version is not optimized.
