Red Dead Redemption: High Price and Poor Graphics on PC [VIDEO]

No joke, but nowadays you have a better chance to buy the second part of Red Dead Redemption on PC for cheaper than the first Red Dead Redemption, which has just been released on PC…

After a long time, Take-Two and Rockstar have finally gotten around to possibly bringing Red Dead Redemption to PC. It’s happened, and in the first video below you can see how the PC version of Rockstar’s open world game looks compared to the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Switch versions. Geração’s Power Up comparison clearly shows that the PC version’s biggest advantage is its higher resolution, which makes the image quality sharper than what we’ve seen on Microsoft’s and Nintendo’s respective consoles.

However, the visuals aren’t as strong either way, and we’ve already written about the price. However, it does give you the chance to do something different: if you have a powerful enough graphics card and processor, you don’t have to think in 4K resolution, you can run Red Dead Redemption in 8K! Of course, you’ll need a display that supports a high enough resolution, and since 8K monitors are still very rare these days, you’ll have to dig deep into your pockets…

Nevertheless, in the second video below you can see how MxBenchmarkPC runs Red Dead Redemption in 8K with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card. Of course, this is not done natively (the technology is not there yet… maybe the next generation Blackwell architecture can do it), but by scaling Nvidia DLSS. The result is not bad and it proves that the “green” upscaler is capable of great performance.

However, Red Dead Redemption on PC will only look really good with mods. This can be achieved later with Reality Redemption, which will allow better reflections, increase the draw distance of the world and vegetation, or particle effects in Rockstar’s game, which has been released for 14 years.

The only question is why Rockstar let PC gamers wait so long…
