TECH NEWS – AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU (that’s a name you’ll have to get used to) runs Black Mythos: Wukong at low power!
AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 APUs are being used more and more in laptops, and because of the name, they are not only good at performance, but also have nothing to be ashamed of in terms of computing power with AI. Strix Point APUs, on the other hand, are less common, and among them is the flagship Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which One-Netbook was one of the first to use in its handheld PC… and based on the embedded review below, it’s a pretty powerful chip!
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has 12 cores, 24 threads, 24MB of L3 cache, and a 5.1GHz boost clock. Equipped with the Radeon 890M graphics chip, the APU is built on the RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture and is able to deliver graphics performance that is stronger than ever before. Black Myth: Wukong is capable of 50-60 FPS at 1080p with low graphics settings. That’s excellent enough, but it’s also at 15W TDP! So it’s quite commendable what AMD’s chip can do… although the manufacturer has added that this is still an engineering sample version, so performance may be somewhat limited!
By the way, the Onexfly F1 Pro has a 7″ (17.78 cm) OLED display with 1080p resolution and an impressive refresh rate (144 Hz). OLED handheld PCs are not that common, and although the Steam Deck got one later, initially only Valve’s handheld was available with an LCD display. There is one small omission: One-Netbook has not yet said how much memory and storage the device will have, nor when it will be available for purchase or for how much.
But that’s not the focus here, it’s the fact that AMD has put together some great hardware. Could this APU be used by Valve in the new Steam Deck?
