TECH NEWS – GeForce NOW premium accounts are being renamed and now have access to 1440p gaming – but they’re capping hours of play…
Have you ever played on GeForce NOW? If so, and you are a subscriber to their cheapest plan, then this news will interest you. Nvidia announced yesterday that the Priority membership will now be called Performance. This will provide access to games in 1440p resolution. Until now, remember, the service here was limited to Full HD (1080p) resolution.
“From now on, for both new members and existing Priority account holders, the maximum resolution for playing games will increase from 1080p to 1440p at 60 fps. In addition, the update enables gaming in ultra-wide resolution and saving game settings between sessions, including settings for Nvidia RTX technologies,” the statement said.
GeForce NOW introduces a monthly limit
In order to guarantee the contracted speed and streaming quality, Nvidia has also announced that it will introduce a 100-hour playtime limit for Performance and Ultimate accounts, which will come into force in 2025. “This change aligns with the gaming habits of the 94% of members who don’t use the service for 100 hours a month, so their gaming experience remains the same.” However, if you already pay for the service, the tech company has postponed the introduction of the hourly limit until January 2026.
There will be a way to extend the limit for the 6% of players who need more time.
Users can accumulate up to 15 unused hours from one month to the next. Those who wish to extend the duration of the service with all its features can purchase an additional 15 hours for $2.99 for Performance or $5.99 for Ultimate.
In addition, Nvidia announced a 25% discount on GeForce NOW day passes for those who want to try the cloud-based gaming platform, which allows users to play their games on Steam, Epic Games Store or Game Pass anywhere and on partner devices -tin.
Currently, joining GeForce NOW in the EU costs €10.99 per month for Priority or €109 per semester for Ultimate, which allows you to enjoy 4K video games with Nvidia’s latest technologies.
