S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl: A Closer Look at the Weapons [VIDEO]

GSC Game World has revealed the weapons and ammo that will be available to Stalkers to help them survive the challenges of the Zone.

You can check out the video embedded below, courtesy of IGN. In it you can see the weapons, ammo and weapon attachments (2x, 4x zoom). 17 years have passed since the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was released, and the technological advances are indescribable. In the case of the Ukrainian studio, this means using Unreal Engine 5 instead of the in-house developed X-Ray. However, Epic Games’ technology can be a bit choppy at times, and the team has previously said (and we reported) that they have tried to achieve a stable frame rate at all times in the game.

The graphics and environments are impressive in the video, as they are extremely detailed. It shows you looting from bodies on the ground and of course you can see the inventory. This is exactly the element where many games of this style have failed, as the gameplay and atmosphere were often poor due to cumbersome menu management. The items you pick up have a specific size and shape, so you have to do a bit of Tetris to make sure everything is in the right place. We saw this for the first time in Resident Evil 4 almost twenty years ago. On top of that, objects will also have a weight, so if you carry too much stuff, you’ll be dragged around like a snail.

We also get a look at combat and how to keep your health under control. More than once we’ll have to resort to quick bandages. Meanwhile, you can see how GSC Game World has managed to turn the world around us inside out in a matter of seconds, so if something starts out peaceful and calm, it can quickly become chaotic and unpredictable, so it’s always worth being on your guard.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on November 20th for Xbox Series and PC (Steam/GOG/Epic Games Store), and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
