Nvidia GeForce Now: Significant Changes to the Service!

Nvidia has made a little adjustment to GeForce Now, and it’s worth taking a look at what’s changed (and not just in name!).

The middle subscription tier used to be called Priority, but Nvidia has renamed it Performance and spruced it up a bit graphically. Priority used to run at 1080p resolution, but Performance has pushed the limit up to 1440p, and ultra-high resolutions that were previously only supported at the Ultimate level are now supported. You can save your in-game graphics settings in the cloud so you don’t have to change them every time you start the game. Priority subscribers automatically become Performance subscribers.

But the biggest change is the monthly game time limit. For both Performance and Ultimate, you can play up to 100 hours per month. According to Nvida, 94% of players do not even reach this level. With this, the company says GeForce Now will be able to offer short queue times as well as excellent speed and image quality. We can track how much we’ve played so far this month on our account portal. We can carry over up to 15 hours of unused time to the next month. For those who need more time, the Performance level is $3 for 15 hours and the Ultimate level is $6 for 15 hours.

The change will not affect users immediately. All players who subscribe by December 31, 2024 will have unlimited play until January 2026. As a reminder, the Performance tier is $10 per month and the Ultimate tier is $20 per month. There is also a free tier, but it is recurring, has the longest wait time, and you can play for up to an hour before being kicked out.

So new subscribers may already be running into limitations, while old ones won’t be for a while. This also shows that the majority of gamers don’t play that much from the cloud, and Nvidia would rather use that capacity for other technologies (and now they have artificial intelligence to deal with).
