S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl: Is It Banned in a Country?

GSC Game World’s game hasn’t even been released yet, but we’re already hearing that it’s been banned in one country for a bogus reason…

The development of the game was not easy and took some time. This is mainly due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, and maybe it is not so surprising that a new game from Ukrainian developers is probably banned in Russia. The team has moved its headquarters to Prague, but this has not changed the mind of Vladimir Putin, who, according to an official, could ban the game if it is found to “justify terrorism”. The same could happen if it is deemed extremist or anti-Russian. The ban would only mean that players would still be able to buy the game digitally, as only in-store sales would be banned…

According to VGC, Mikhail Mushailev, a legal advisor, pointed out that digital purchases could also be harmful to the players concerned. Those who purchase the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. via VPN or other non-direct means could be branded as supporters of a hostile power and, if caught red-handed, could be considered terrorists, as the Russian government considers the purchase to be an act of terrorism.

That year, the Russians took control of Chornobyl. This is where S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl takes place. However, the Ukrainians retook the area a month later, and so it is still questionable if the game will be banned or not, but seeing what is happening in Russia, we could bet more money that it will be, and we will only get official information about it when the game is released, because if we see that GSC Game World has not released the game in Russia for some bogus reason, it will be because of that.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on November 20th for Xbox Series and PC. A few days ago we posted the official system requirements for the game. You can also find the game on Xbox Game Pass.
