MOVIE NEWS – The first big casting rumour of HBO’s Harry Potter series quickly won the hearts of fans…
We all have many questions about the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. It is true that the wizarding world was created by J.K. Rowling’s book series, but its visuals and aesthetics were clearly determined by the Warner Bros. film series.
Knowing this, it is questionable how HBO’s upcoming TV series would be able to redefine this aesthetic so soon after the end of the film series. 13 years is a relatively short time for a reboot – especially when it comes to the biggest movie franchise of all time. Let’s just imagine. A new Great Hall, revised house crests, the Ministry of Magic… it’s all going to be a pretty strange sight.
Similarly, many of us will probably find seeing new actors portraying these iconic roles strange.
The cast has not yet been officially announced, but negotiations are already underway to fill one of the roles. Variety reports that HBO has been negotiating with Mark Rylance for the role of Dumbledore.
However, the representatives of Warner Bros and Mark Rylance have not yet confirmed the news.
However, it is not typical of Variety to be wrong about such things – and Harry Potter fans certainly hope that the casting is true. It’s fair to say that Rylance’s potential casting has already been a hit.
“Rylance is, most importantly, a very solid actor. That’s a fine choice. Makeup and hair etc can age the man, but it’s most important that the dude can act,” wrote Reddit user RiflemanLax.
“Oh I actually like this. I think he could pull off the twinkle and whimsy mixed with power,” added Clear-Garage-4828.
“He’s definitely got that twinkle in his eye, and he’s insanely talented. Even just based off of his interviews, I can totally see it,” agreed TryingToDoDoGreatStuff.
Of course, we’ll be watching to see if the cast is officially confirmed. The series does not yet have a set release date as it is still in the early stages of development. However, the year 2026 is mentioned as a possible date.
