Master Collection Vol. 1 players on console and PC can now enjoy Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 in 4K.
Although Konami sadly noted a few days ago that younger gamers are not familiar with the Metal Gear series, the fact is that the spy franchise released a collector’s set just over a year ago. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was criticized by players for many problems and errors in the port. However, the Japanese team admitted that it made a mistake and promised to improve the package with updates.
In light of this, Konami has recently updated Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1 on consoles (PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S). (The PC version already received this patch in September.) So PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and PS4 Pro players can now enjoy Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 in 4K thanks to the new Adjusted Mode thanks to which improves the visual quality by internal scaling; Xbox Series S and regular PS4 users will rescale both titles to 1080p.
In addition, many custom settings have been added for internal resolution and scaling.
These new features are not available on Switch, as the 2.0 update only fixes minor issues and brings new settings to the controller. Metal Gear Solid remained the same, but at least the other titles got the patch that many players asked for for free. Maybe this is the version that should have been announced last October. However, Konami has now at least proven that it will not repeat these mistakes with the next release.
Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 2 is on its way
A few weeks ago, Konami had already talked about Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 2. They said that neither the games nor the date had been decided yet. However, it seems that the Japanese company does not plan to drag out the adaptation of the next parts for consoles and PC for a long time because they do not want to repeat the mistakes of the first edition with Master Collection Vol.2. The next selection is said to be coming with Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 5 (which will also include Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes).
