TECH NEWS – PCs have several upscaling technologies at their disposal, and Intel XeSS is getting into the game.
However, this doesn’t mean that Intel XeSS is on par with its two main competitors, as many more games support Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR. For this reason, not many have adopted XeSS, but as Intel has continued to improve it, it has now reached a position where it can be considered a viable alternative (although only the second generation Arc cards may bring a significant change in terms of graphics cards/GPUs).

On Twitter we read that Intel XeSS is already supported by more than 200 games, and there is plenty of room for that number to grow. The more titles the technology is available in, the more you can say that gamers and developers are interested in it, even though Intel’s share of the GPU market is considered negligible. But it is still fair to say that gamers are often choosing it as an alternative to the native Nvidia/AMD solution.
On SteamDB you can see a list of 201 games available with Intel XeSS. The technology took off in 2024, with more titles implementing it this year than ever before. That momentum could improve with the next-generation GPU architecture, and if the low price we’ve seen so far is matched by good performance (or better power consumption…), market share could grow similarly. Besides next-generation Arc cards, Intel could also play a big role in handheld PCs, as we recently reported on an Intel-based device (MSI Claw 8 AI+), so if the new architecture is effective, AMD might have to look behind (Lenovo Legion Go, Asus ROG Ally and Steam Deck are also AMD-based).
Hopefully Intel XeSS can continue to expand, as it never hurts to have alternatives even among the upscalers.
