STEAM DECK NEWS – MSI will launch two versions of its new Claw model, but there won’t be too many differences between the two.

We’ve learned concrete specifications for the two models of the MSI Claw AI+, as the handheld PC has appeared on Amazon. The two listings have since been taken down, but too late, as the Internet quickly jumped on the specs published here, but the prices weren’t there. Anyway, according to Videocardz, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ will cost $900. It will have an 8-inch (20.32 cm) display with 120 Hz, an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor, 32 GB of RAM and 1 GB of storage. But here’s another model, the MSI Claw 7 AI+.

This one has a slightly more ethereal design and will be the successor to the MSI Claw 7. This one doesn’t have the Meteor Lake-based Ultra 5 135H or Ultra 7 155H, but uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. It also has 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, but the storage will be 512 GB (not double as in Big Brother). The display is 7″ (17.78 cm), but still capable of 120 Hz. This could cost $800. So we’re getting pretty fresh hardware in both machines.

The Asus ROG Ally X has 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and the OneXFly F1 Pro also has 32 GB, but these are AMD-based machines. The latter has the Strix Point Ryzen AI 9 365 or HX 370, and at a higher price. MSI’s Intel hardware comes with the Xe2 graphics chip and both have the Arc 140V iGPU. However, there is a difference: while the two AMD APUs mentioned above have 10/12 cores (20/24 threads), the Core Ultra 7 258V APU has 8 cores and 8 threads.

Hopefully, the lower price (coupled with an 80Wh battery!) will keep MSI’s machine competitive with AMD hardware. The embargo on reviews is supposed to end on December 25th…
