Samsung’s One UI 7 beta gives a glimpse into the future of mobile AI

TECH NEWS – Samsung has announced the official launch of the beta version of One UI 7, a precursor to the scalable AI ecosystems of the future with its powerful AI features and simplified control interface. One UI 7 takes a significant step forward by incorporating cutting-edge AI algorithms and multimodal capabilities into every touchpoint of the user interface, creating an AI platform where every interaction feels natural and intuitive. Beta users will be the first to experience an improved, more personalized mobile experience.

Enhanced AI enables a more intuitive user experience

One UI 7 brings a powerful update to Galaxy AI[i] features, including advanced writing tools. The AI-powered features built into the operating system help users be more productive by eliminating the need to switch between apps in processes where text can be selected. This solution expands the powerful writing tools available to Galaxy users, offering AI-powered features that can summarize content, check spelling or grammar, and automatically format notes into bullet points.

One UI 7’s enhanced calling features take communication and engagement to the next level with call transcriptions in up to 20 languages[ii]. When call recording is enabled by the user, calls are automatically transcribed for later reference, eliminating the need to manually jot down notes while multitasking.

Bold new design for personalization and control

The powerful AI features of One UI 7 come with a refreshed look and feel, based on a new notification system that’s easily accessible from the lock screen, making communication easier. This includes the Now Bar, which highlights key actions across features like Translator, Music, Voice Recorder, and Stopwatch. The Now Bar provides instant access to important notifications, reducing the need to unlock the device frequently and allowing users to easily access key information. Now Bar, which will be supported on upcoming Galaxy S series devices, could transform the lock screen experience, enabling even smarter accessibility in the future.

Each feature enhancement is simple, powerful, and emotional. Together, these building blocks create a clean and unified experience. With bold, iconic design cues, One UI 7 reduces visual clutter and delivers an immersive, personal, and intuitive mobile experience powered by AI.

A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets, and lock screen, among other features, combine to provide control over every detail and intuitive and seamless personalization.

The redesigned camera UI offers easier control over advanced settings. Reorganized camera buttons, controls, and modes provide users with easier navigation, easier access to the features they’re looking for, and a more accurate preview of the image or video they’re taking. The layout of manual settings in Pro and Pro Video modes has also been simplified, making it easier to focus on the image or video you’re capturing. When shooting in Pro Video mode, there’s a new zoom control that lets you control the zoom speed for smoother transitions.

The official version of One UI 7 will be available starting in the first quarter of 2025, starting with upcoming Galaxy S series devices that will come with additional AI capabilities, including improved in-device AI features. As part of Samsung’s commitment to expanding the operating system, this update will also be gradually made available to additional Galaxy devices.

The One UI 7 beta program will be available first in South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Germany, and Poland on the Galaxy S24 series starting December 5. Galaxy S24 users in affected countries can apply on the Samsung Members platform to install the beta program.
