The Director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Asks Players Not to Make Nude or “Other Inappropriate” Mods!

Ahead of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s release on PC, the director requests players avoid creating or installing offensive or inappropriate mods. The JRPG launches January 23 on Steam and Epic Games Store.

Just days after its announcement at The Game Awards 2024, excitement is building for the PC release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The game is set to launch on January 23, offering players the opportunity to explore Midgard’s open world with improved performance. Meanwhile, the modding community is eager to craft new content for the JRPG.

While Square Enix welcomes players to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with mods, they’ve set one condition. Speaking to Epic Games in an interview, the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, shared his perspective on mods: “While the team has no plans to create official mod support for the game, we respect the creativity of the modding community and welcome their creations. However, we kindly ask creators to refrain from making or installing offensive or inappropriate content.”

The message aims to prevent awkward scenarios where characters or environments are altered in ways that deviate from the developers’ vision.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth DLC Plans Shelved

Hamaguchi also addressed the scrapped DLC plans for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Originally, the team had considered adding “an episodic story as DLC to the PC version,” but ultimately decided to prioritize Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. However, Hamaguchi hinted that the idea isn’t entirely off the table: “If strong requests come from players after launch, we would like to take them into account.”
