Our Polish friends have seen a sudden drop in the availability of the more powerful current-gen console, and the Redmond tech giant has responded.

We’ve already heard that Microsoft is considering suspending Xbox Series sales in Europe and the Middle East because neither the Xbox Series X nor the Xbox Series S are selling well, and we’ve also heard that publishers are reluctant to plan for Microsoft’s console in terms of retail releases and ports due to lackluster sales.

This week, Polish publication Gram reported that Xbox Series X is hard to find on store shelves in the country, leading many to rumor that Microsoft may be pulling out of Poland and that this could be a sign that the console is not available there. In response, WCCFTech contacted Microsoft, whose spokesperson replied: “While we expect to have a limited supply of Xbox Series X in Poland this holiday due to player demand, Xbox Series S consoles will still be available. Players can visit xbox.com/regions to learn more about how to play with Xbox.”

Meanwhile, Microsoft has also announced a change in strategy later this year, so not all Xbox Game Studios developments will be exclusive to Xbox and PC. As evidence of this, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, Grounded, and Hi-Fi Rush have all gone multiplatform with PlayStation 5 and/or Nintendo Switch releases. There were also rumors a few days ago that Xbox exclusivity is essentially over, so games that are not currently playable on PlayStation 5 could make it to PlayStation 5. Maybe even Starfield, Todd Howard’s latest game, will make it to Sony’s console.

So for now, only the Xbox Series S is available in Poland. This means that the sales of discs will also decrease, as there is no Blu-ray drive in this console. However, this platform can also boost Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, as the smaller Xbox is a great platform for this.
