Hi-Fi RUSH 2? Tango Gameworks Has Responded!

Many fans dream of Hi-Fi RUSH 2, but Tango Gameworks has yet to decide on its next project. The studio leaders emphasize that creating new IPs is “part of Tango Gameworks’ DNA.”

Gamers are closely monitoring what’s next for Tango Gameworks. Following its closure announced by Microsoft and its revival thanks to Krafton’s acquisition, the developer is entering a new era where it can continue crafting thrilling games. But what will their next project be? So far, Hi-Fi RUSH 2 has frequently been mentioned, though the team is still exploring all its options.

Tango Gameworks’ creative director Colin Mack, Hi-Fi RUSH director John Johanas, and development director Kazuaki Egashira spoke with IGN about the studio’s plans. “We’re seriously considering a sequel,” Mack shared. “However, we’re not at the point where we can definitively say, ‘This is our next project.’” Johanas added, “Many team members are passionate about [Hi-Fi RUSH], so we feel we have options. Right now, we’re looking at several possibilities.”

New IPs: A Core Focus

Tango Gameworks has consistently shown a willingness to experiment with new ideas. Egashira highlighted that innovation is “embedded in Tango Gameworks’ DNA,” so a brand-new project remains a possibility. “Hi-Fi RUSH became a success as a new IP, but if it stayed the same forever, it would eventually grow stale,” Egashira explained. “Tango Gameworks thrives on taking risks. I hope we can keep working in a way that places our developers at the center, without losing our passion.”

“Sequels Are Also a Gamble”

Tango Gameworks acknowledges that producing sequels isn’t necessarily a risk-free endeavor; exploring different genres and creating varied games is equally vital. “Many of our team members feel deeply connected to Hi-Fi RUSH,” Johanas said. “We love the game, its characters, and its world, so we want to preserve this IP.”

“That said, trying new things is crucial,” Johanas continued. “I worked on The Evil Within, its DLC, and directed The Evil Within 2. At that time, I couldn’t have made another horror game because there’s only so much you can do with the same material. Experimenting with something new carries risks—but so does continuing a saga.”
