STEAM DECK NEWS – The Chinese company will unveil the future of handheld gaming at CES, early next year, which clearly indicates that Lenovo will announce the next generation of the Legion Go.
Valve has proven how Linux-based SteamOS can be a great alternative to the Steam Deck, so you don’t have to install Windows 11 on it right away either. The Verge reported that in a press email sent to them, Lenovo talked about their CES 2025 event on January 7, and here the company mentioned that Valve will be a star guest at the event.
We recently saw a white Lenovo Legion Go S, followed by a black one with a Steam button. The leak has disappeared, but the rumor may not have been fiction after all. Back in August, the SteamOS beta hinted that it might show up on competing machines like the Asus ROG Ally, and it’s probably no coincidence that Gabe Newell’s button appeared on Lenovo’s machine the other day: presumably SteamOS will be on that machine too, which could bring down the price since you won’t have to pay for a Windows license…
Steam Deck, on the other hand, is definitely heading in the direction of Valve announcing a next-gen model next year, because basically everyone is releasing a brand-new hardware-equipped device (even One-Netbook, who we featured an interesting machine from in the news yesterday…), so their handheld PC hardware is considered outdated, and they want to offer a meaningful upgrade in the hardware department. It’s about time, isn’t it?
Getting back to Lenovo, we suspect they’ll be announcing three new models right away. The Lenovo Legion Go S will be the cheapest variant with slightly older hardware, there will be a mid-range model and there will be the most expensive one, which will feature the latest APU, the AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370.
However, as always, we stress that this is not yet official!
