Neon Inferno: A Cyberpunk Twist on Contra by Zenovia Interactive! [VIDEO]

A little bit of Metal Slug and Wild Guns in the mix, but Neon Inferno is more of a side-scrolling run-and-gun game…

Three decades later, New York City is at war with itself. A war without a battlefield: criminal syndicates control four of its five boroughs, fighting each other and the corrupt NYPD in a vicious struggle for supremacy. Into this dystopia steps a fledgling crime family, trying to secure its place, striving for power like everyone else. You are their most deadly weapon.

As an assassin, your missions will take you through every area of this hyper-metropolis: from the impoverished, battle-scarred slums of the Bronx, where police and gangs wage a vicious war that leaves entire neighborhoods in flames, to the walled neon gardens of Inner Manhattan, where the upper class and lawmakers idle away their time enjoying the fruits of high culture, blissfully shielded from the chaos and agony of the outside world – for now.

Neon Inferno is a dynamic fusion of side-scroller and gallery-shooter where the action takes place both in the foreground and in the background (like playing Contra and Wild Guns at the same time). In glorious 32-bit style, it features a sci-fi cityscape rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack. With danger lurking around every street corner, why not team up with a friend in two-player co-op? Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode… or test your skills and stamina with the 1-credit arcade mode!

The minimum PC system requirements seem almost comically low (no recommended specs yet):

  • Operating system: Windows 7 x64 (Steam requires Windows 10… or not with a little trickery)
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / AMD Phenom II X2 550
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT / AMD Radeon HD 3870
  • DirectX: DX11
  • Free storage: 500 MB

Zenovia Interactive is scheduled to release Neon Inferno in 2025… but only for PC!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
