ShadPS4: A New Achievement for the PlayStation 4 Emulator! [VIDEO]

The emulator closes the year 2024 on a high note, as ShadPS4 has achieved a result that sheds a very good light on the development of the software in 2025.

The emulator is now capable of booting most major PlayStation 4 exclusive titles. That’s not to say that all games run great, but to run you have to take small steps first, and ShadPS4 is doing just that with a slow but promising development.

In the video embedded below, BrutalSam has shown just how far ShadPS4 has come, running many PlayStation 4 exclusives (such as Gravity Rush Remastered) surprisingly well. Some titles are still not running at their best and there are visual glitches, but the fact that games are running is an excellent development. The star of the video is clearly From Software’s PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, which has become one of the most important titles for emulator developers. Let’s not forget that a few months ago the game couldn’t even be started, so we can call this little software evolution a commendable one.

Bloodborne is also getting a remaster project from Fromsoftserve, which will tweak the visuals a bit and also add features that could be included in an official remaster. Of course, it seems that Sony doesn’t want to hear anything about an official remaster, which is sad because Bloodborne is almost ten years old and the game hasn’t received a port to other platforms since then.

The PlayStation 4 emulation is so fast because it runs on the same processor architecture (x86-64) as today’s PCs. (There are also ARM laptops with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips, but they’re not mainstream yet.) And because of this, porting the basics of the console to PC isn’t as complex as it was for the PlayStation 3, since the Cell processor was a bit ahead of its time when it was released in 2006.

Keep it up.
