S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl: Is a PlayStation 5 Version Coming?

GSC Game World’s game is still unavailable for PlayStation 5, and the Ukrainian studio has been reluctant to say when this situation will change.

Ievgen Grygorovych, the director of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, was quite pessimistic about the PlayStation 5 port in an interview with Tech4Gamers. Gyrgorovych stated that the game is only being developed for the Xbox Series and PC, making the Zone adventure perhaps the biggest Xbox console-exclusive title of 2024, which was released just over a month ago (November 20th) and has quickly become a hit with many players.

The sequel was announced by the Ukrainian studio back in 2010, but the road to release was not so easy, but it finally happened, albeit in a somewhat buggy state. This did not stop the game from making a profit, which is an excellent result. And this result could be even better if the game were to appear on Sony’s current generation console, but the secrecy surrounding the port means that there is a greater exclusivity here.

It’s probably not a three-month period, so there’s no way that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl would be released in the middle of the February gaming rush, and GSC Game World refuses to comment on leaks, rumors and speculation, according to Grygorovych. For this reason, this game will certainly be treated differently than Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, because the PlayStation 5 port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was announced before Indy arrived on Xbox Series and PC. So we suspect that the exclusivity period will be six or twelve months. This is because these three periods are usually the exclusivity period (see Silent Hill 2 Remake: it was openly stated that it would not come to Xbox Series until a year after release).

So we really shouldn’t expect a PlayStation 5 port of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl in the near future.
