After nearly three years, Rare has finally shared fresh artwork from Everwild, hinting at a potential increase in promotional activity for the game, possibly in 2025.
Rare initially introduced the new IP in November 2019 and released another trailer in July 2020. However, news about the game has been sparse ever since.
This week, fans were treated to a long-awaited update via a festive image shared on Rare’s Instagram account, which showcased holiday-themed concept art from Everwild.
Back in 2021, insiders familiar with the project shared with theGeek that the game’s development had been “completely restarted,” suggesting that the final release was still years away.

At that time, reports from VGC suggested the team was aiming optimistically for a 2024 release, marking a decade of development for a project that spent years in experimental stages. However, that timeline has since shifted.
In response to early coverage of this story, Everwild’s executive producer, Louise O’Connor, confirmed certain details, including the appointment of Gregg Mayles as the project’s new creative lead.
Former Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty also commented, stating that Rare wanted to ensure the game was truly “something special” before making it public again.
