TECH NEWS – While the price tag there doesn’t mean that the two graphics cards will fetch the same price elsewhere, it at least gives us an idea of the pricing strategy of the “greens”.
The prices for Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 cards have appeared on Twitter. According to the image, you’ll have to pay 19000 yuan for the top-of-the-line Blackwell model and 10000 yuan for the RTX 5080. The US price for the RTX 5090 could therefore be between $2500 and $3000, and the use of GDDR7 memory modules could be one of the reasons for the price increase. And the RTX 5080 will be somewhere between $1000-1500, and from these it looks like the MSRP will be increased again by Nvidia… if we look at the more expensive, high-end models.
However, we expect more consistent and predictable pricing in the lower mid-range, although given the company’s appetite for money, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the lower-end cards go up in price a bit. However, this could be exploited by AMD and Intel, who tend to focus on lower-priced mainstream products (and the latter has already proven this with the Arc B580, which has a competitive price and reasonable performance, making it a new potential king of budget graphics cards).
We can only guess for a little over a week, as Nvidia will present the new graphics cards based on the Blackwell architecture at CES on January 6th. We’ve already written about how AMD and Nvidia are now racing against the clock to get new cards into US warehouses before Donald Trump imposes tariffs on products from China.
All we know for sure is that you will now have to pay a lot for the more powerful Nvidia cards.
