The Japanese company’s yet-to-be-announced next console will be officially revealed soon, but we’ll have to wait a little longer…
Nintendo will officially announce the Switch 2 at the end of March; with it, the console’s name will be officially confirmed. It’s about time, because the Switch was released in March 2017, so it’s been almost eight years since the launch of the platform, which still managed to put together some great sales, but we don’t think the Switch will be able to beat the PlayStation 2’s record. However, there have been plenty of rumors and leaks about its successor over the last few days of the year.

We’ve also been following the images (some of which were created using generative, content-generating artificial intelligence) that NextHandheld posted on Twitter. But now we can see new renders courtesy of Endo. We can see the new Joy-Con controller, the plus button (which could be a sort of C button; this has become a bit of a tradition on the Japanese company’s previous console controllers – the Nintendo 64 and GameCube already had it). In the images, we can see the blue and orange buttons. It looks like the Big N’s new platform will be more bulky than its predecessor (understandable, as the more powerful hardware might not be able to be released in a smaller format at an affordable price), and the display has been made bigger.
The images also show what the Nintendo Switch 2 looks like when it’s docked. The Nintendo Switch 2 logo appears on the front of the dock, and a more stylized, sleeker-looking Joy-Con rendering has also appeared, with the aforementioned C button underneath the Home button. The images are somewhat authentic, as previously leaked designs of the Nintendo Switch 2 following this pattern were believed to be real. The Joy-Cons are also rumored to have improved analog arms, potentially eliminating the drift problem of previous Joy-Con models.
Of course, these images are not official!
