It’s no coincidence that we haven’t yet seen the console version of Microsoft’s China’s Game Science (which we wrote about recently, but managed to win a prestigious award to kick off 2025 on a high note).
The game’s director wrote this on Weibo, China’s Twitter equivalent: “Although there were no big surprises, I still felt a little emotional after accepting all of them [Steam Awards]. Everyone’s fighting power is so terrifying, but the only thing missing is the Xbox robe… It seems a bit wrong (but that 10G shared memory, without a few years of optimization experience, it really can’t be taken down)”.
10GB is for the Xbox Series S. So: basically, Game Science hasn’t been able to do an Xbox Series port after the PlayStation 5 and PC versions because of the inferior Xbox Series model! We’ve heard from developers on more than one occasion that the smaller Xbox is holding developers back a bit, and it seems that Microsoft is not willing to compromise on this, as the Redmond company is essentially making it mandatory for everyone to run games on both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. In other words, there’s no way that the Xbox Series S can simply be ignored by Game Science, who have pointed the finger at themselves for not having the experience to optimize games.
For this reason, it doesn’t look like an Xbox version of Game Science’s game will be coming anytime soon. If the studio could ONLY develop it for the Xbox Series X, then the conversion might have been done, but they don’t have that option, and the rumor we heard earlier is true: we wrote earlier that there is no Xbox Series version yet due to memory leaks. And the lack of memory can be seen as a lack of memory, because more memory is needed than expected, which leads to bugs…
Too bad.
