Elden Ring: Nightreign Players Can’t Leave Messages – A Bold Move by FromSoftware

FromSoftware has surprised fans with the announcement that Elden Ring: Nightreign will not feature the ability to leave messages. The game’s director explained that sessions are limited to 40 minutes, leaving no time for such interactions.

FromSoftware titles have built a loyal community thanks to the unique way players can communicate with each other: through messages. These messages, whether they offer tips, tricks, or simple hints, have helped many survive challenging games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring. However, this iconic feature will not be part of the experience in Elden Ring: Nightreign.

Saying Goodbye to a Beloved Feature

In an interview with IGN Japan, Junya Ishizaki, the director of Elden Ring: Nightreign, revealed that the beloved message system is being removed from the game. “We decided to remove the message feature because, in this game, where each session lasts about 40 minutes, there’s no time to write your own message or read those from others,” explained Ishizaki, whose impressive career speaks for itself. “You’ll still be able to see other players’ ghosts, but the option to leave messages is no longer available.” Additionally, enemies will not respawn when players rest at a Place of Grace, marking another significant change.

How Much Will Elden Ring: Nightreign Cost?

The director also touched on the pricing of Elden Ring: Nightreign, suggesting it could match the cost of Shadow of the Erdtree at around €40. He clarified that FromSoftware views this as a standalone product rather than a live service game. “All content is included in this purchase,” he stated, emphasizing that it’s a “complete package.” Moreover, a playable beta will be available starting January 10 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users.
